Artist of the needle....
I live on the Sunshine Coast with my husband and have two incredible humans who call me mum.
I have been sewing, painting, and making things for as long as I can remember.
I have two loves, one is drawing and the other is hand stitching, and luckily for me, they both work together.
I love everything about designing and the creation of pretty things.
It all begins with pencil and paper, then it's the design, the choice of threads, the use of decorative stitches, techniques, and the love of colour and fabric.
There is nothing like the sound of that needle as it passes through the cloth. It’s a potent form of art that enjoyable, it’s therapeutically, it distracts the mind and soothes the soul.
It’s my passion, I love love LOVE it and I would love to teach and inspire you to love it too.
From a very early age, my mum taught me the love of being creative.
I could handle a crochet hook when I was five and by the time I was seven, I could crochet from a pattern.
When I was around 9, I won my first prize for hand embroidery.
I have made clothes, quilts, dolls and teddy bears.
I love getting my hands dirty with paint and some of my pieces are in homes around the world.
I bought my first sewing machine when I was 17. A Husqvarna and years later I traded it in for a Janome.
I have mastered lead lighting, ceramics, dress making, applique, macramé and wreath making,
My creative life and my professional life are two worlds apart.
I’ve advocated for the less fortunate and stood up for what is right. I have spent a big part of my working life empowering women to be leaders. Teaching them to be confident, mentoring them to have the inner strength to take risks, the courage to fight for what they believe in and to never give up no matter how hard the challenge.
I grew up surrounded by strong independent women and I truly believe as a woman if we set our minds to it, we can do anything!
Life hasn’t always been easy, there have been times on my journey when life has been extremely difficult and the one thing that helped me get through was my creativity.
From the minute I pick up a needle, a paintbrush, or sit at my sewing machine it absorbed me, relaxes me, distracts me, calms the mind, and helps me to switch off.
Creativity is my wellness practice and this is why it forms part of my daily holistic health.
There is nothing that surpasses the joy of creating.
I truly believe...
